The scenting of tea leaves began in ancient China. Here, tea leaves are gently scented with fresh Jasmine blossoms, Osmathus flowers or Bergamot. This process is done by placing fresh tea leaves on mesh screens in several layers. Fresh flowers or bergamot oil are placed on top of the tea leaves. After several hours, the blossoms are removed by hand, up to eleven times. Eventually, the tea leaves take on the delicate flavor of the flower. Thus, leaving a beautiful and delicately flavored tea.
